Carey was 5'10 in height before she stepped up to the top model. She was a popular model with American designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was very high. In 1979 the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists elected the father of her Scientist of The Year. Carey's father was a scientist who travelled the globe as a part of his profession. She started modeling part time when she was a student attending university at the University of Colorado and caught the attention of an agent from the Ford model Agency in New York. As she studied acting in the Neighborhood Playhouse, New York, her enthusiasm for acting grew. In 1986, she got her first role in acting as a small part in Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. White water rafting, skiing and rock climbing are among her preferred pursuits.
